Residency for architecture in Nantes - Call for applications

Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures, the Architecture unit of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and Wallonia-Brussels International, in partnership with the Maison de l'Architecture des Pays de la Loire in Nantes (France), are organising the first French-Belgian residency, the purpose of which is to develop activities on the subject of “urban densification and contemporary architecture in the suburbs”.

The residency is structured around a collaboration between two residential teams (one French and one French speaking Belgian) sharing a culture and different environmental approaches, called on to jointly mobilise the issues of urban renewal processes in two specific areas: Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau, a commune in Nantes, and Walcourt, a Walloon commune in the Province of Namur.

The purpose of the residency is to open local residents’ and inhabitants’ eyes to present day issues associated with the identity of cities and regions.

This stay for creation and production lasting for 8 weeks, will require the Belgian and French residents to carry out in situ and present to the public, a project on the subject “urban densification and contemporary architecture in the suburbs”.

DURATION: 8 weeks, between March 2019 and end November 2019 : 2 x 3 weeks of residency + 2 weeks of production/presentation

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 15 February 2019
