New location and set design of the Museum of Fine Arts (Musée des Beaux-Arts) in Charleroi.
About
The project is the expression of a strong museum identity, in its relation to the local context and the cultural and historical context. Particular attention is paid to the last in the selection of works while the former is mainly expressed in the architectural process and organizational choices. To benefit from high visibility in the city without disappearing in the shadow of the police tower, the public entrance of the museum faces the boulevard Mayence. It thus finds its place as cultural portal in strong relationship with the city, the street and the sidewalk, as does the entrance of Charleroi Danses, also facing the boulevard. Finally, this choice gives the opportunity not to distort the architectural work of the plaza and the tower with the new function attributed to the stables.
